Teacher of Australian Middle Eastern Dancing & Egyptian Rhythms

In 1993 I began my path of study of this beautiful dance form.  I first studied Ghwazee (or folk dancing) with Timara Williams.

In 1995 after joining the Academy of Middle Eastern Dance in Brisbane I built on this foundation and learned Folkloric Movements, Baladi, Classical, Zills, and how to incorporate props such as Saiidi stick, Sword & Fire into my performances.

In 1996 I learned the Darabuka (Tabla) to allow me to fully understand Middle Eastern music, and anticipate the rhythm.

I now offer students the chance to also share this understanding and to build a relationship with the Darbuka.

As a dancer this is a valuable tool which I believe enhances  your   performance.

The year 2001 saw me visiting Cairo and Lebanon - where I was able to soak in the flavours of authentic dance and music with master teachers.  The ideas and inspiration from that trip have been incorporated into my professional dance troupe, which consists of beautiful dancers and drummers.

Dance mentors who have inspired me include Farida Fahmy, Nabi Mabrook, Raqia Hassan, Dina, Amani, Aida Noor, Souheir Zaki, Kathrine Ferguson, Terezka & more recently I've been touched by the teachings and performance of Carolena Nericcio, Jill Parker, Rachel Bryce & Devi Mamak & Paulette Rees Denis.

My studies are never complete -

I encourage all of my students and fellow dancers to give themselves the opportunities to keep learning and expanding their knowledge and dreams...

In 2005 I attended workshops in Brisbane based on Gypsy/Saiidi  withTerezka, and American Tribal Style with Devi. I've also been exploring Indian dance in the form of Bollywood.

In 2006 I completed and passed Teachers Level 1 &2 in tribal Style Belly Dancing Taught By Paulette Rees-Denis from Gypsy Caravan in the USA.

I love exploring Tribal Bellydance with my students and troupe and enjoy the friendship and communication that is forming between the dancers.
As they learn this language it allows them to dance in the true tribal style.

We are all very  inspired by the passion this dance is bringing to our lives.
